Timothy Paul Nix

Timothy Paul Nix, 63, a deeply loved son, brother, uncle, and friend, died on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025  at his beautiful group home in Buffalo, Minnesota. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Peterson Chapel in Buffalo on Saturday, April 26th from noon to 2:00, with a prayer service at 1:00.

Survivors include mother Ellen (Brost) Nix, brother Stephen Nix and his wife Marcia (Dehn) Nix, sister Valerie (Nix) Brownlee and her husband Robert Brownlee, nieces Naomi Nix, Colette Nix, Bailey (Iverson) Brownlee, nephews Trenton Nix and Sawyer Brownlee. Tim was preceded in death by his father Paul Nix. Tim’s ashes (along with Paul’s) will be interred at a family plot after a small graveside ceremony at the Murdo, South Dakota cemetery at a later date.

Tim was born in Pierre, South Dakota on June 2nd, 1961 to Paul and Ellen Nix of Murdo. He was born with a profound intellectual disability and cerebral palsy. The Nix family moved to Rockford, Minnesota in 1972 and Tim was soon introduced to REM group homes in Buffalo where he lived until the end of his life. Tim worked at the Functional Industries sheltered workshop and then attended the day activity center in Buffalo for over 40 years.

The Nix family wishes to extend their immeasurable gratitude and appreciation for the countless REM and Functional mentors and staff that loved and cared for Tim like he was their own. Tim’s infectious personality and joyful nature captured the hearts of everyone who met him.

 The world was a better place with Tim in it, and we will carry the light of his being in our hearts forever. We thank God our Father for the gift of this man to the world. We delight in the knowledge that Tim waits in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
