Marilynn Aasheim Lively

Loving mother and wife, Marilynn Aasheim Lively, passed unexpectedly due to cardiac complications on Sunday, November 26, 2023, in Yuma, AZ.

Marilynn was born to Harvey and Gladys Peterson at home in Faith, SD, attended by great grandmother Mary Selby as midwife on October 24, 1945. 

Marilynn’s siblings being Lois, Mark, and Carl Peterson. Marilynn was raised on a farm/ranch in Opal, SD.

The family moved to Faith, SD, with Marilynn attending Faith High School and working for her parents at The West Hotel Motel.

Marilynn was known for always looking classy. She never stepped out of the house without styled hair, sparkly fingernails, and high heels!

Marilynn married Lester Aasheim on January 21,1963. They raised their family in Kalispell, Mt. Marilynn and Lester loved to dance and passed that love and skill onto their children and grandchildren. Marilynn will fondly be remembered by her grandchildren as she taught them the art of making huckleberry and raspberry freezer jam. They loved when she would take them swimming at the Elk’s.

Marilynn retired from the Daily Interlake, where she worked in sales in the classified ads section. Marilynn had a passion for the clubs to which she belonged. She was proud to be the first woman to serve as Exalted Ruler for the Kalispell Elks #0725 in 2001. She made many dear friends through the Elks, Eagles, Lioness and Moose clubs. She was excited that she had recently been invited to join the Red Hat Society. Marilynn was a member of Stillwater Free Lutheran Church.

Marilynn was lucky in life to fall in love a second time and marry Jack James Lively on May 29, 2021. Marilynn and Jack summered in Montana and would winter “snowbird” in their home in Yuma, AZ. They enjoyed traveling by motor home to several destinations and spending time with their friends. She enjoyed going to reunions with Jack as a Submariner’s Wife.

Marilynn is survived by Husband: Jack James Lively.

Marilynn is survived by Children: Lois (Terry) Heckman, Lester Cecil Jr. (Val) Aasheim, Joyce (Darrel) Bosket.

Grandchildren: Traver (Laura) Heckman, Marissa (Hyrum) Cattaneo,  Shayne Heckman, and Peter Bosket.

Great grandchildren: Mason, Xander, Brecken, Ellie and Maven.

Brother: Carl Harvey (Judy) Peterson.

Marilynn is predeceased by Husband: Lester Cecil Aasheim, December 9, 2000. Siblings: Lois, Mark Peterson. Parents: Harvey and Gladys Faith (Hansell) Peterson.

A funeral service was held, December 11, 2023 and the Reception was held at the Elk’s Club, 139 in Kalispell, MT.
