James "Jim" Ralph Holloway

James "Jim" Holloway, age 85, of Faith, SD, passed away at his home on Monday, February 17, 2025 in Faith, SD.
Funeral Services for Jim were held at Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Faith Community Center in Faith, SD.  Pastor Harold Delbridge officiated and burial followed at the Faith City Cemetery.
Visitation was held from Friday, February 21, 2025 at the Faith Area Memorial Chapel in Faith, SD.
Jim grew up around Eagle Butte helping his family on the ranch before he left home in 1954 to work for his uncles John and Glen “Shorty.” He then worked on a few ranches before moving to San Diego, California, to work for Daily Enterprises.  Jim returned to South Dakota, where he eventually got married and had his first daughter, Deborah, in 1960. Later that year, he was hired as a brand inspector for the South Dakota Stockgrowers Association, kickstarting his 61-year career. He then had his son, John, in 1964 while living in Sturgis and working at multiple sale barns in the Black Hills until he moved to Faith in 1969 to work at the sale barn. In 1974, Jim married Helen “Ivy” Fairbanks and went on to have their daughter Glenda.
Jim enjoyed going dancing with Ivy, playing Whist, and, most of all, his work. He additionally spent time working for Barber Freight, Tri-County Water, and Farmers State Bank. Also, Jim volunteered in the ambulance and fire departments, was the mayor of Faith, and was a dedicated Mason and Shriner, among many other things. In 2021, Jim retired and spent his time relaxing and spending time with his wife.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Phyllis Holloway; siblings, Janice Halloran and Russel “Rusty” Holloway. He is survived by his loving wife, Iverne; children, Deb French, John (Sylvana) Holloway, and Glenda Holloway; siblings, Dan Holloway and Don Holloway; grandchildren: Chance (Larimie) Escott, Duce Escott, and Jayce Pesicka and great-grandchildren, Colson and Lorraine Escott.
In place of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, an organization Jim was involved in and felt strongly about.
