Severe storms rip through Jones County

The Jones County Courthouse lawn on Murdo’s Main Street had a huge tree blown over at its base during the storm that hit late Friday, June 19 and early Saturday, June 20. Many residents spent Saturday cleaning up debris from the high winds. Yet more storms came through Jones County in the middle of the night on Sunday/Monday knocking out power to the county Monday, June 22 for almost 12 hours.
