Zymer "Lucky" Lajqi

Zymer "Lucky" Lajqi, age 64, of Wall, South Dakota, died on Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Regional Hospice House in Rapid City.
Zymer Lajqi, better known as “Lucky”, was born July 15, 1954 in Albania, Europe. He grew up in Albania, but due to the dangerous atmosphere he swam across a river to move to another country. Eventually he ended up in New York where he worked for a man making pizzas.

In 1990, Lucky came to work at The Cactus in Wall, South Dakota, working for Kathy and Butch Beach who hired him and other summer help from an employment agency based in Denver, Colorado. Lucky worked in the kitchen washing dishes and learning to cook from Ken Skillingstad. When Ken started his own business Lucky went to work for him working the line at night. Lucky worked for Bill Cheney in Gordon, Nebraska, for a while too but came back to the Cactus because he missed his friends there, and they missed him.

Lucky was rarely sick but if he was he would still come to work anyways. Lucky was always there through rain, shine, blizzards, or storms. We could always count on Lucky. He never talked about his family and was a kind man. He really enjoyed being around children and most people, but if he did not like somebody he would let them know.

Survivors include many friends and co-workers in Wall and the surrounding area.

A visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. on Friday, May 10, at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Wall.

Interment will follow at the Wall Cemetery.

Arrangements are with Rush Funeral Home of Wall.
