Trevor Torkelson

March 19, 1998 - August 29, 2015
Trevor Torkelson, age 17, Wanblee, S.D., died Saturday, August 29, 2015, as a result of a car accident south of Kadoka.
Trevor Steven Torkelson was born March 19, 1998, in Marshall, Minn., the son of Steven Torkelson and Roxanne Reek. He grew up in Olivia, Minn., where he started his elementary education, and as a child participated in basketball, baseball, football and Tae Kwon Do. He enjoyed riding horse with his grandpa.
In 2013, he moved with his mother to Wanblee, where he began his sophomore year at Kadoka High School. That same year he was confirmed at the Interior Presbyterian Church.
During high school, he loved hanging out with his buddies. He enjoyed his job at Subway and was “Mr. Dependable” at work. He enjoyed attending Rapid City Rush hockey games, and was proud to be a big brother to his brother and sisters. He was very proud and vocal about “loving his mama” and wasn’t afraid to let anyone know it.
Everyone knew Trevor to be very kind and well mannered. He had a big heart and would do anything for anyone. He loved to make people laugh and tried his best to brighten their day, if only for a minute. He will be missed by so many.
Survivors include his mother, Roxanne Vogelgesang and her husband, Jay, Wanblee; his father, Steven Torkelson and his fiancée, Nicki Heinrich, Walnut Grove, Minn.; his brother, Connor Torkelson, Wanblee; two sisters, Haley Torkelson, Olivia, Minn., and Katelyn Torkelson, Wanblee; his adopted sister, Heather Johnson, Denver, Colo.; his maternal grandfather, Greg Reek, Sacred Heart, Minn.; his grandmother, Paula Vogelgesang, Wanblee; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Trevor was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ray and Marlene Torkelson; and his grandfather, Conrad Vogelgesang.
Services were held Wednesday, September 2, at the Kadoka City Auditorium, with Pastor Kathy Chesney officiating.
Interment was at the Vogelgesang Family Cemetery in Wanblee.
Arrangements were with the Rush Funeral Chapel of Kadoka.
