Steve Drees

Steve Drees, age 66, of Wall, South Dakota, died on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
Steven Jerome Drees was born March 16, 1955, in Wessington Springs, South Dakota, one of two children born to Jerome “Jerry” and Virginia (Salmon) Drees.
Steve graduated from Wessington Springs High School and later attended Mitchell Area Vocational Technical School. After relocating to Wall, South Dakota, Steve met the love of his life, Sheila Roehler. On May 1, 1982, Steve and Sheila were married at the Chapel in the Hills near Rapid City, South Dakota.
After working for 35 years for Golden West Telecommunications, Steve was able to enjoy the wonderful retirement life.
Steve and Sheila enjoyed big game hunting and traveling all over the world to places including Yukon Territory, British Columbia and Ontario Canada, Mozambique and Zimbabwe Africa, Utah, Texas, Idaho, Alaska, Custer State Park, as well as all over the plains of South Dakota. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. In addition, they found pleasure in deep sea fishing in Mexico.
Grateful for sharing his life include his sister, Sherrill (Drees) Bessey of Sioux Falls; a nephew Shon Valland and his wife Sabine of Bonney Lake, Washington; a nephew Erik Valland and his wife Jen of Sioux Falls; a nephew Ryan Valland and his wife Nancy of Sioux Falls; great nieces and nephews; and a host of other friends from Wessington Springs and Wall, South Dakota.
Steve was preceded in death by his wife Sheila (Roehler) Drees; his father Jerome Drees; and his mother Virginia (Salmon) Drees.
Cremation will take place and private family services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are with Rush Funeral Home of Wall.
