Shirley May Moore

Shirley May Moore, 84, of Red Wing, died January 1, 2021 at Bay View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 3, 1936 in Blockton, Iowa to Darrel and Virginia Alexander. She attended high school in Martin, South Dakota. She married her high school sweetheart, Virgil Moore, Jr. on August 20, 1955 at Lindsey Memorial Presbyterian Church in Martin. Together, they raised 3 children. Virgil’s job would bring the couple to the Red Wing area in 1968. Shirley was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She also served as the president of her chapter of the Red Hat. She was always a people person and she enjoyed chatting with friends over a good cup of coffee. She enjoyed gardening and watching things grow, especially her flowers. Shirley liked to cook and to bake for her family and she always went the extra mile to make the holidays special for her children and grandchildren. She had a beautiful smile that will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Brenda (Rick) Kirchner, Bill (Bunny) Moore and Geraldine Moore; siblings; Nancy Halbie, Toni Rhodes, Merlin Bennett and Glen Bennett; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.  
Due to Covid concerns a memorial service will be held when it is safe to gather. Burial will be in Martin, South Dakota at a later date. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
