Rosalie Mae Dahlquist

Rosalie Mae Dahlquist, age 97, of Sturgis, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at Sturgis Regional Senior Care. She was born on October 20, 1922, as the eldest child of six to Ernest and Olive (Mailloux) Edwards.
Rosalie grew up in Vale, SD, and attended Belle Fouche High School. After graduation, Rose moved to San Diego, CA and married the love of her life, Waldemar “Voldey” Dahlquist, on December 4, 1942. While Voldey was at war, Rosalie moved to Denver, CO, and worked as a Riveter and was known as “Rosie” the Riveter.
In 1948, they moved to Newell, SD, where they took over the family farm and raised their family of six children. Not only was Rosalie a homemaker, she also sold Stanley Home Products and demoed food at the local grocery store. She never knew a stranger and loved sales. She cherished being surrounded by all her family and friends, and always opened her heart and home to other children.
Voldey and Rosalie laughed and loved for 69 years of marriage and years of hard work. Together, they enjoyed farming, her flower beds with lots of beautiful roses, dancing, flying airplanes, trikes, bowling, boating, camping-RVing, and traveling.

        Remember Me
Don’t remember me with sadness,
Don’t remember me with tears,
Remember all the Laughter,
We’ve Shared throughout the Years,
Now I am contented,
That my life it was worthwhile,
Knowing that I passed along the way,
I made somebody smile.
When you are walking down the street,
And you’ve got me on your mind,
I’m walking in your footsteps,
Only half a step behind.
So please don’t be unhappy,
Just because I’mout of sight,
Remember that I am with you,
Each morning, noon and night.
