Funeral services for Paul Passolt,  were held on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at the United Methodist Church in Faith, SD.  Pastor Connie Eichinger officiated and burial with military honors were held at the Faith City Cemetery.
Paul Elton Passolt, 78, of Faith, SD, passed away December 26, 2019 returning home from spending Christmas in Marmarth, ND with his family.
Paul, the only child of Roy & Lela (Felton) Passolt, was born on March 26, 1941. Paul grew up in Faith and graduated from FHS in the class of 1959. Following graduation he attended college at Northern State University in Aberdeen.
He joined the 211th National Guard Unit in Lemmon in 1959. The unit was called to active duty on October 1, 1961 until August 7, 1962 during the Berlin Crisis. Following his return to Faith, Paul joined his dad in the construction business and built many houses in Faith & the surrounding area. He also joined his dad in raising wheat on the farm east of town.
Paul met Loretta Sippert in 1964 and they were united in marriage on July 3, 1965. To this union 4 children were born, Wes, Nick, Melissa and Tiffany. Paul was pretty bullheaded and that gene runs deep in his kids.
Paul and Loretta spent many years on the road hauling their kids & others to various school sporting events. He enjoyed watching & cheering on his kids and their teammates, and continued to for many years after his own kids were grown & gone.
Paul enjoyed dancing in his younger years, and took in many dances around the area. He and his family also spent many Friday nights at the car races in Rapid City. He watched NASCAR and World of Outlaws Sprint Car series races on tv, and the past several years watching his nephew Eric race his sprint car at Black Hills Speedway.
Paul was a member of the local Jaycees for many years and of the United Methodist Church.
Paul spent many hours playing whist & cribbage with the guys at M&D over the years until his arthritis made it too difficult. He enjoyed “shooting the breeze” with anyone and everyone.
Paul is survived by his wife of 54 year, Loretta; sons Wes, Sturgis, Nick and girlfriend Renee, Marmarth, ND; daughter Melissa (Jeremy) Graham, Marmarth, ND; sister-in-law & brother-in-law Eldora & Dave Fischbach, brother-in-law Ken Flatmoe, and several nephews and nieces.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Tiffany, sister-in-law Marlene Flatmoe, father-in-law Emil Sippert, mother & father-in-law Laura & Leo LaPlante, sister- & brother-in-law Ardell & Robert Roll.
A memorial has been established to the Faith Ambulance and Faith Area Community Foundation.
