Marlin Evans

Marlin Evans of Midland, South Dakota, died on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Kadoka Nursing Home at the age of 86.
Marlin Idell Hercher was born June 27, 1935 to Louis and Lonabelle (Garner) Hercher in Martin, SD and resided near Interior most of her life. She attended Lone Tree and Interior Grade School and graduated from Interior High School.
Marlin was thrilled to become a sister at the age of 7 to Asta and when she was 15 Kenny became part of their family.
Marlin was united in marriage to Norman “Jack” Franklin Evans on October 11, 1953 in Rapid City. To this union four children were born; Prerry, Heather, Clover, and Jack. In 1997 three grandchildren were adopted, Slate, Mariah and Alaetra.
Throughout her life she waited tables, cleaned at and was activity director at both Kadoka and Philip Nursing Homes, milked cows, helped operate the second hand store and most important – was a homemaker. She fed everyone who sat at her table. We will all remember her apple pies, cinnamon rolls, cookies, brownies, funeral cakes and fried chicken. Spending time with her grandkids was the highlight of her life and through them her ‘love of Canasta’ will live on.
Grateful for sharing her life include two sons, Jack (Jill) Evans of Colorado Springs, CO and Slate Evans (Amanda Drobney) of Martin; five daughters, Prerry (Clint) Saucerman of Midland, Heather Evans (Jerry Kirby) of Parker, CO, Clover Evans of Interior, Mariah (Emery) Gibson of Philip, and Alaetra Evans (Vince Bruce) of Hayes; nine grandchildren, Tel (Ellie) Saucerman, Ty (Emily) Saucerman, Talon (Erica) Saucerman, Matthew Kirby, Elizabeth (CJ) Busby, Jace, Jaya, Jadd Evans, and Hoyt Evans; eight great-grandchildren, Emma, Sawyer, Meleah, Raygen, Calum, Benjamin, Rebekah Saucerman, and Sophia Busby; her sister Asta Amiotte and her brother Ken (Gay) Lange.
Marlin was preceded in death by her husband, Jack and her parents.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Midland.
Interment will be at the Nowlin Cemetery near Midland.
Arrangements are with Rush Funeral Home of Philip.
