Kristie Fay Foster, age 64, of Riverside, CA; formerly of Faith, SD, passed from this life on Friday, July 7, 2017 in Riverside, CA.
 
Services are scheduled in Riverside, CA at 1:00pm July 18, 2017 at the Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Funeral Home.
 
Service are also scheduled for 1:00pm July 25, 2017 at Spencer Memorial Presbyterian Church.  Pastor Florence Hoff will officiate with burial in Greenhill Cemetery.
 
Kristie was born on October 10, 1952 in Faith, South Dakota to Lloyd and Hilma Kelly. She was the third of four daughters. Kristie grew up working on the family ranch with her parents and sisters. She attended grade school at Happy Hill School and continued school in Faith where she graduated in 1970. During school she was an active member of 4-H. She attended Black Hills State University where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Education in 1974. She became a teacher at a K-8th Country school in Plainview, SD, where she taught for several years.
 
She married Charles (Chuck) Foster, of Lemmon, SD, on August 21, 1976 in Faith, SD. They began their life together on Chuck’s family’s ranch south of Lemmon. They were blessed with four children, Drew Albert (1977), Bryce Lloyd (1980), Brad Charles (1980), and Jennifer Irene (1985). In June 1988, Chuck and Kristie moved their family to Riverside, California. Kristie taught Kindergarten at Children’s Village Pre- School for the first year they lived in California. In the fall of 1989, she began teaching at Mt. View Middle School, where she taught 6th grade Language Arts and History. This is where she continued her teaching career until her retirement in June 2017. 
 
Kristie had a passion for life, and a passion for her family. In addition to her career as a teacher, she was active in the Thunder Butte Extension Club in SD, was a ranch wife, stay-at-home mother for several years. After moving to CA she taught Sunday school and was lead teacher at Mt. View for many years. Some of her hobbies included sewing, baking (she made the best bread), cooking, spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. Kristie was a kind, giving, beautiful, strong woman; her family was her everything.
 
She is survived by her husband Chuck, Riverside, CA; her sons Drew (wife Shellie), San Jacinto, CA; Bryce, Los Angeles, CA; and Brad (wife Christina), Riverside, CA; her daughter Jennifer, Riverside, CA; her grandchildren Tiffany (husband Joseph II), Cassie, Kyle, Ethan, Evan, Riley, Elijah, Emma, and Mikayla; her great-grandson Joseph III; her sisters Darlene, Marlene (Mark); her brother-in-law Frank (Juanita); her sisters-in-law Harriet (Ronald) and Lou Ann (Fred); nieces Amel (Levi), Emi, Kathie (Steve), Heather (Dane), Trista (Josh) and Nicole (Casey); nephews Kelly, Thomas, Wayne (Marissa), John (Michelle); she has numerous great nieces, nephews, honorary family members and friends.
 
Kristie is preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Hilma; in-laws Charles and Ruth; sister Colleen; brother-in-law George; niece Heidi; nephews Tom and Curtis; and grandson Nicolas.
