Joseph David Roeder, age 30, Wall, S.D., died Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at his home in Wall.
 
Joseph "Joey" David Roeder passed away unexpectedly in his home Oct. 9, 2017. During his 30 years on earth, Joey touched many lives and was loved by all who met him. Joey had such a way of lighting up any room he walked into with his authentic, infectious smile and genuine presence. 
 
Joey was born Aug. 8, 1987, in a suburb of Milwaukee, Wis., where he grew up and graduated from Oak Creek High School in 2005 before making his way to Spearfish, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Black Hills State University in 2014. Joey spent the past 10 years as an invaluable asset to the world famous Wall Drug in Wall. 
 
Joey was blessed with two beautiful children who he was so proud of and excited for every day, Eli (4) and Abbi (2). He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Christina and Mark Lister; his sister and soon to be brother-in-law, Stacie Roeder and Miguel Garza; his grandparents, David and Carolyn Roeder; his grandmother, Susan Young; his adoring aunts and uncles, Gary and Jenni Nichols, Mark and Lisa Birmingham, and Michael and Julie Roeder; cousins Canon and Morgan Roeder and Lukas Birmingham; and a host of other relatives and friends.
 
A celebration of Joey’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, at the Community Center in Wall.
