James Aske

    James Aske, 65, of Pierre, died Saturday, May 7 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
    James “Jim” LeRoy Aske was born August 20, 1950 to Edwin and Beulah (Farris) Aske in Murdo, S.D. He grew up in Murdo attending Murdo High School. He went on to attend Mitchell Vocational Tech in 1992.
    Jim was trying to find his way with God and was baptized as an adult. He enjoyed playing softball and basketball on city leagues. You could usually find him talking about basketball and his children who he loved more than anything.
    On June 4, 1978 he married Laura Williams in Pierre S.D. To this union two children were born: Jamie and Dustin.
    On November 23, 1997 he married Sandy Wellman in Deadwood, S.D. Along with this came four step-children: Scott, Tara, Kevin and Kelly.
    Jim is survived by his daughter, Jamie (Kiel) Dettler of Frankfort; his son, Dustin (Kristen) Aske of Murdo; six grandchildren: Sean, Hannah, Madison, Case, BreAnna and Breckin; one sister, Joanne Erickson of Pierre; brother, Robert Aske of Phoenix, Ariz.; special friend, Sandy Wellman of Spearfish; sister-in-law, Caroline Aske of Pierre and numerous nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Beulah Aske and brother Dwayne Aske.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 14 at the Murdo United Methodist Church.
