Florence Gropper

Florence Gropper, age 94, of Kadoka, South Dakota, died on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.

Florence E. Folsom was born on May 11, 1923, to Ralph and Alma (Urban) Folsom in Philip, South Dakota. She grew up in the Philip and Cottonwood, South Dakota areas and graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1941.

Florence was united in marriage to Glen Gropper on July 20, 1941, in Kadoka, South Dakota. Their marriage was blessed with two children: Rodney and Sandra. They made their home in Kadoka all their married life.

Florence worked as a postal clerk in the Kadoka Post Office and several local post offices in the western South Dakota area.

Grateful for having shared her life include four grandchildren, Darrell Otis of Thornton, Colorado, Mitzi Mitchell and her husband Chip of Kadoka, Marci Schortzmann and her husband Dan of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Michelle Hook and her husband Todd of Oronoco, Minnesota; six great-grandchildren, Brandon (Belinda) Mitchell and Tyrel (Tara) Mitchell, Shania and Race Schortzmann, and TiShea Hook and her significant other Tony Chhoeut, and TiMarie (Danny) Ly; five great-great-grandchildren, Brylen and Blane Mitchell, and Vera and Vayda Chhoeut and Danarie Ly; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, on February 4, 2004; one son, Rodney D. Gropper on November 1, 1998; one daughter, Sandra Lynne Otis on December 30, 2015; one sister, Bonnie Gauliet; one brother, Delane Folsom; and her parents.

Arrangements are pending with Rush Funeral Home of Kadoka.
