Elwin "TD" Saunders

December 1, 1934 - October 6, 2015

Elwin E. Saunders, known to his family and friends as “TD”, age 80, of Warsaw, Mo., passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at his home. He was born on December 1, 1934, in Interior, S.D., the son of Dewain and Margaret Been Saunders. 

He went all 12 years to school in Interior and graduated from Interior High School in 1954. In 1955, he was married to Carol Lange and unto this union three children were born; Terry, Karla, and Jean. This marriage ended in divorce. 

Elwin broke a lot of horses to ride for people. He enjoyed riding bucking horses, rodeo, dancing and going to auctions. 

He worked as a heavy equipment operator and worked on the I-90 Interstate project. In the winter time, he would work for his father. 

In 1969, he moved to Gillette, Wyo., and worked at Wydak Coal Mine. In 1979, he moved to Sheridan, Wyo., to work in the Big Horn Coal Mine. 

In 1980, he was married to Sharon Smith and with this union; he acquired one step-son, David. In 1985, following the closing of the coal mine, they returned to Gillette. In 1999, Elwin retired and they moved to Warsaw. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings, Robert and Carolyn; and his daughter, Karla McLean. 

He is survived by his wife, Sharon, of the home; brother, Kenny Saunders and wife Helen, and a  sister, Shirley Lantinis and husband Fred, all of Wyo.; son, Terry Saunders and wife Denise, of Tennessee; and daughter, Jean Wickstrom of North Dakota; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. 

Elwin wished to be cremated with no services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, Mo.
