Eldon Eugene “Gene” Griffith passed away peacefully at his home on Sept. 27, 2020.
Gene was born Dec. 4, 1948 to Ike and Lola May Griffith at their home west of Loveland, Colorado.
He was married for several years and adopted his son, Chris Griffith.
Gene graduated from Loveland High School and joined the United States Airforce where he served in Thailand for the majority of his four years of service as Sergeant in charge of the supply warehouse for the Airforce. Upon
discharge, he went to work at Colorado State University, almost immediately, as their Facilities Warehouse Manager where he retired from in 2000.
Gene loved to travel, was a talented photographer and enjoyed wood working. His travels took him all over the United States and on multiple cruises.
In more recent years, Gene enjoyed his time with the numerous nieces and nephews in the Griffith family and their kids.
Preceding Gene in death are his parents Ike and Lola May Griffith, sister Susan Taylor, brother in-law Neil Taylor, and nephew Jon Johnson.
He is survived by his sister; Judith Griffith, brother Steven (Patti) Griffith, uncle Hunter Griffith and son Chris Griffith. He was affectionately known as “Uncle Gene” to these nieces and nephews: Amy (Steve) Jungwirth, Heidi (Tracy) Collins, Todd (Lynnette) Taylor, Russel (Krissy) Johnson, Chris Johnson, Kelli (Zach) Griffith and Dani (Nick) Traweek as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Kinkade Funeral Chapel, 1235 Junction Ave., Sturgis, South Dakota on Tuesday, October 5, 2020, at 10:00 am with internment to follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
