Connie Sever

Funeral services for Connie Sever, 84, of Dupree will be at 10 AM, Thursday, January 6, 2022, at the Dupree UCC Church. Burial will be at the Lantry Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 4 PM, Wednesday with a prayer service at 5 PM at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Butte. Connie passed away at her home on Thursday, December 30, 2021.

Constance (Connie) Ann Bennett Sever was born November 1, 1937 to Elizabeth (Marienou) and Charles Bennett in Idagrove, Iowa. Connie was raised on the Bennett Ranch, 23 miles south of Dupree. She attended grade school at the Sunnybrook school for 7 years, 6th grade was at Dupree school as her parents owned the Dew Drop Inn Café. She graduated from Dupree High School with the class of 1957. She worked as a waitress for Buckhorn and Dwyers Café until she married Dallas Lee Sever on June 15, 1958. To this union, three sons were born. Lamont (Monty), August, 1959, Darvel, August, 1962, and Charles (Chuck) December 1975.

She had a daycare in her home from 1964 until 1988. She loved and cared for lots of children. Many still call her “Grandma Connie.” She also worked as a cook at the Dupree School and the Dupree Daycare. She also did janitorial work for Social Service, Dupree Bank and Pioneer Hall.

She was a member of Emmanuel Free Lutheran Church in Eagle Butte and served as a Deaconess.

Connie is survived by three sons, Monty, Kearney, NE, Darvel, Dupree, SD, Chuck Moore, OK, 13 grandchildren, Barry (Gomer) Mraz, Ryan (Jacqueline) Mraz, Tanya (Kipp) Holbrook, Megan (Jared) Hutchens, Tell Sackette (Ry) Sever, Shandra (Eric) Fuerst, Alicia (Chad) Jensen, Jon Cooper Sever, Annika, Aric, Aydin, Asher, Alliyana Sever, numerous great grandchildren, two sisters Doris Hescock, Troy, MT, Jackie (Fred) Joens, Eagle Butte, SD, sisters-in-law, Kathy Bennett, Stoutland, MO, and Lois Sever, Deadwood, SD, and several nieces and nephews.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas, parents, brothers, Mac and Don Bennett, a very dear sister, Beatrice Kay “B.K.” Bennett who came to live with Connie in 1976, daughter-in-law, Devona, sister-in-law, Elaine Floyd and niece, Melody Bennett.
