Carol Barber

Carol Arlaine (Dudley) Barber was born on February 3, 1953 to Jim and Lucy (Ratcliff) Dudley in Rapid City, South Dakota. She graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 1971.

Carol was married to James Barber in October 1971. They made their home at Lakeside, until moving to New Underwood in June 1978. It was then that she began to work at the Good Samaritan Home and made many life long friends. In June 1983, Jim, Carol, and their two sons, Josh and Kevin, moved to Wall.

Following her divorce in 1984, she remained in Wall while staying engaged in her community and raising her young family. She was actively involved in her son’s extracurricular activities and found much joy cheering for the football, basketball, and track teams and continued to do so long after her sons finished competing.

Carol was a life-long learner and embraced many new adventures throughout her life. Whether venturing to Sioux City, Iowa, where she earned her degree from the Sioux City Barber College, driving her son’s stock car, waiting tables, cleaning motel rooms, selling t-shirts, making arrangements at the flower shop, or cutting countless heads of hair, she continually gave and gained the gift of friendship.

For the last 20 years Carol has been blessed by her companion Larry Eisenbraun and his family. Carol and Larry spent much time together extending friendship, love, and support to friends and family. Carol valued the everyday moments of life, serving others with her God-given gifts and finding much joy being engaged in the lives of her grandchildren. Most importantly, Carol treasured her personal relationship with her savior, Jesus, and was an active member of the Wall Evangelical Free Church.

Survivors include two sons, Josh (Rebecca) Barber and their children: Samantha, Shevy, Riley, Savannah, Cloe, Ruby, Brystal, and soon to be born baby Barber; Kevin (Summer) Barber and their children: Emmett, Hadley, and Jace; longtime companion Larry Eisenbraun and his children Scott Eisenbraun with his children: Tyrel, Taran, and Tate, Sam (Amy) Eisenbraun with their children Ashley, Stephanie, and Spencer, and Chad (Dana) Eisenbraun with their children Kaylee, Gracie, and Karson; one brother Don Paris; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her dad Jim Dudley, her mom Lucile (Ratcliff) Dudley, and her sister Cathie Merced.

A memorial visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. on Monday, June 11, at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Wall.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, at the Evangelical Free Bible Church in Wall.

Everyone is invited to join the family for a luncheon at the Wall Community Center at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, immediately following the memorial services.
