Betty L. Hostetter

Betty Lou Ellen Woodard Hostetter made her way to Heaven Tuesday, February 19, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Betty passed away at Rolling Hills Health Care in Belle Fourche.
    Betty was born February 28, 1932, in Salina, KS, to Clyde and Edith (Hammer) Woodard. From Kansas, the family moved to eastern Colorado and in 1948, they moved to a farm east of Faith, SD. Betty graduated from Faith High School in 1951 and married Johnny Hostetter on June 25 of the same year.
    Johnny and Betty, with the help of Uncle Alf, raised 4 sons and 2 daughters. They ran a dairy and delivered fresh milk and cream daily. In 1980, Betty, Johnny, and Justin moved to Red Elm, where they lived until Betty’s health made her move to Sturgis.
    Betty had a passion for the outdoors and animals, and was a very good artist, drawing and painting many western and wildlife pictures. She loved her family beyond measure and loved spending time with her grandkids.
    She is survived by her sons, John, Jr., Whitewood, Jim (Sheila), Red Owl, Jay (Laurie), Gillette, WY, and Justin (Vicky), Torrington, WY; two daughters, Linda Hoffman, Newell, and Cindy (Kenny) Eaton, Faith; sister, Doris (Dan) Ulrich, Faith; 12 grandkids; 17 great-grandkids; numerous nieces and nephews; her second “sons,” Mike and Jeff Stocklin; “Little” Allie; and her dear, dear friend, Betty Hulm.
    Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Edith; her husband, Johnny; brothers, Bob Rogers and Virgil Woodard; sister, Jane Hauser; uncle, Alfred Woodard; and son-in-law, Don Hoffman.
    Services were held Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Father John Paul Trask officiating. Burial  followed at Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.
