Anita (Hemmingson) Geisler

Geisler, Anita J. (nee Hemmingson), Asleep in Jesus on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at the age of 83.

Beloved wife for sixty-two years of Ralph L. Geisler; mother of Gregory D. (Melissa) Geisler, Cheryl L. (David) Laaker, Timothy R. (Jennifer) Geisler; grandmother of Stephanie, Jeffrey, Anabeth, Madison, and Tyler; sister of Ardyce Pearson, Janyce Bedessem, Haroldine AbiFadel, and Dorothy Connelly; Dear aunt, great-aunt, cousin, neighbor, and friend to many.

Anita was born on July 9, 1938 in Kadoka, SD to parents, Harold and Elizabeth "Betty" Hemmingson. She graduated Cum Laude from Kadoka High School in 1956 and from Concordia Teacher's College (Concordia University) Seward, NE, in 1960.

Anita's passion was teaching young children and mentoring early childhood teachers. She did this from the first day she started teaching. It was also important to her to support the parent in raising children.

Anita taught at Trinity Lutheran School in Atchison, KS, Our Redeemer Lutheran School in Hutchinson, KS, and Faith Lutheran Church Preschool in Penfield, NY. She worked at Central Institute for the Deaf as a Teacher Aid and Librarian in St. Louis, MO; Directed a Child Care Center in Lakewood, NY; Opened a preschool at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Omaha, NE; Served lower-income families as Director of Marie Wilkinson Early Child Care Center in Aurora, IL; Served as Director of the Early Childcare Center at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond Heights, MO, and Co-Chaired the Midwest Association for the Education of Young Children Conference with over 5000 registrants.

Anita enjoyed her many trips and travels: Germany, Nova Scotia, Switzerland, and almost all 50 states. The most important thing to Anita was her family. Talking with her children and grandchildren and participating in all of their activities brought light to her life. She will be greatly missed and loved.

Services: Memorial service at Concordia Lutheran Church, 505 S. Kirkwood, Kirkwood, MO 63122, Friday, November 5, 11:00 a.m. Interment at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church Children's Ministry, Concordia Lutheran Church Ministry for the Deaf, or a Charity of your choosing. Visitation at the church, 10:00 a.m. until time of service. A service of SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory. Friends may sign the family's on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.
