    The Wall Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) has made significant progress in the past seven months and is looking forward to the future of economic development.

   Pastor Walter Switzer’s first official Sunday sermon as the new pastor at Midland Open Bible Church was March 27, Easter Sunday.    Switzer is not new to the pastoring field, and his family is not new to western South Dakota.

The Murdo Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call reporting a small grass fire on the east side of the City Park on the evening of Thursday, April 7. The fire department was at the scene for approximately twenty minutes and was able to contain the fire to a 10x20 foot area with no major property loss. An investigation to the cause of the fire led to the confession of two local teenagers. The fire was intentionally lit by a small lighter while the teenagers were building a fort.     In speaking with city policeman, Heath Harter, hazardous fire conditions become a topic of concern as summer approaches.    “It may be green now,” stated Harter, “But the dry season is coming and the community needs to be aware.”
On March 31, the Wall Elderly Meals program was honored to have Mayor Marty Huether attend and help serve their noon meal. This was part of the March for Meals.
